Bill was hired as a Hummelstown Police Officer in 1992 after spending five years with the George Mason University Police Department in Virginia. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1996. He began teaching DARE at the Lower Dauphin Middle School in 1997. Sergeant Ryan was named the American Legion Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1999. He was also honored as the Officer of the Year for the Northeast Region of the United States and was the National runner up. In June of 2016 Bill was promoted to Chief of Police.
